1. What made you start your own travel blog?

I love traveling since I was a kid. At just 6 years old I started to travel with my parents through Europe and I always wanted to see every city and every monument.

A few years ago, I had the need to write about my travel experiences over the years and try to help other travelers with my tips and itineraries. That’s the reason I started my own blog.

2. What do you think makes for a great influencer?

I think you need to be honest with yourself and with other people. Always tell your own experience and try to help whenever possible with your personal advice.

Create an engaged community and share with them your tips and plans!

Besides that, social networks are so important to be a great influencer. Share your posts and other valuable information in social media with all your followers. Be helpful, direct and sincere!

3. As an influencer, what do you like about themidgame?

(Check out Sara’s Influencer Profile in themidgame here.)

I think themidgame is a perfect opportunity to share our experience with brands and be professional. It’s a great channel for bloggers to improve their audience and work as a real blogger with sponsors.

4. Do you have any tips for newbie bloggers on how to increase your reach and become a trusted influencer in your field?

First of all, it’s important to know what kind of blogger you are going to be. General travel blogger? Specific niche as adventure, culture or luxury blogger?

Then you need a goal and try to be an expert in your field and write about your own experiences. It’s important to have your own voice.

Try to put yourself in your readers’ shoes. What do you think they would like to read about?

5. What has been the highlight of your blogging career so far?

I was so excited when I get involved in a huge blogging project in 2013 called Big Blog Exchange. I had the opportunity to exchange my blog and my country with another blogger and travel through the US as one of Hostelling International’s Ambassadors.

Blogging changed the way I see the world and my trips. Now I care more about everything I do and try to open my eyes and share my travel experience with other people.

Last April, I started my own travel project and business called Kaleidoskope Travel. a unique travel portal with integrated luxury travel magazine content that brings together travel stories, local insight, online bookings, bespoke travel itineraries and philanthropy.

6. What is the most difficult part about blogging that many people may not realize?

At the beginning you think blogging is just write a post and wait. But if you do that, no one will read your posts!

Then the most difficult part starts. You need to build a community of travelers with social media, being in touch with other bloggers, read and answer all the comments on your blog, learn about SEO, get in touch with travel brands…every day blogging you learn a new thing. It’s amazing but it takes a lot of time and effort!

7. What kind of opportunities have you had as a result of your blogging success?

My blog is bilingual Spanish/English and that gave me more opportunities to open my experience to more brands and countries.

I’m brand ambassador of an eco-friendly travel brand, Green Path Transfers, and of an amazing destination, Cesenatico, on the Adriatic Coast.

Besides I have unique opportunities to travel to beautiful places such as London, Maldives, Japan and Italy.

My blog has become professional and I love what I do and what I have become.

Thanks to my blog I have now my own travel business, Kaleidoskope Travel, and I’m doing what I really love: travel, share my passion and travel tips and help other people to travel to amazing destinations and have the journey of their dreams.

8. What has been the most memorable or important piece of advice you received as a (beginner) blogger?

Be patient and love what you do. If you don’t love blogging and being there for everyone who needs your advice and help, it will be an obligation and not a passion.

Of course there are difficult moments but you have to be strong and remember why you started and who do you want to become. Don’t give up!

9. What kind of future do you see for your travel blog?

I want to keep learning every day and be more professional with my blog. Now I see my blog as one of my brands and I want to partner with more travel related brands and promote amazing places and help more travelers to explore the World!

10. Finally, who are the bloggers that influence you?

As I always read English speaking bloggers, and as I love nature, culture and adventure, some of my favorite blogs and influencers are Green Global Travel, Wild Junket and Global Grasshopper.
